Certification and initiatives for carbon footprint reduction

At the beginning of 2024, we obtained carbon footprint certification for a selection of our saddles according to the ISO 14067 standard. This allowed us to identify the actions needed to reduce the carbon footprint of our saddles and, by 2045, the entire company. The results showed that raw materials account for between 65% and 72% of total emissions, prompting us to pay more attention to supplier selection and their sustainability practices.

Since 2022, we have joined the DHL GoGreen project and GLS Climate Protect, contributing to the reduction of 257 tons of CO2, equivalent to the annual absorption of 11,680 trees. In 2023, the reduction increased to 329 tons of CO2, equivalent to the absorption of 17,954 trees, or the equivalent of the emissions from approximately 206 round-trip transatlantic flights per passenger.

Additionally, during the renovation of our headquarters, we installed Active Surfaces ceramic panels, known for their photocatalytic properties. These panels, using light and moisture from the surrounding environment, act as antibacterial, antiviral, odor-resistant, and self-cleaning, helping to remove 1.7 kg of NOx* per day, equivalent to about 4,000 square meters of green areas, and providing over 5,000 cubic meters of purified air each day.

For context, 5,000 cubic meters of purified air is enough to fill 20 apartments of 100 square meters with 2.5-meter high ceilings.

*NOx refers to nitrogen oxides, a family of harmful gases that form when fuel burns at high temperatures, such as in car engines and power plants. These gases contribute to air pollution, causing problems like smog and acid rain, and can have negative effects on human health and the environment.

Reduction of waste, plastic, and waste management

We are at the beginning of a journey to reduce plastic and mixed materials in our packaging. We have already undertaken several significant actions, such as adopting cotton bags for knuckles, eliminating unnecessary components from accessory packaging, and replacing plastic adhesive tape with paper tape. Additionally, our leather maintenance kit now uses RPET materials, recycled from plastic bottles. We encourage our suppliers to reduce or eliminate the use of plastic, and when packaging is essential, we use recycled and recyclable plastic bags. Our priority is to reduce plastic, a commitment we approach with constant dedication.

We optimize recycling and waste disposal with the help of specialized companies. For example, leather scraps are transformed into compost and fertilizers. We are also committed to reducing leather waste by finding new uses for it whenever possible. This commitment to sustainability is essential to us, and we continue to seek solutions to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging and manage waste responsibly.

Leather has always been the ideal choice for the production of our products. Thanks to its durability, versatility, and long lifespan, it contributes to reducing the need for frequent product replacement, promoting a more responsible approach to consumption and a reduction in waste production. Additionally, leather is a byproduct of the food industry, allowing us to turn waste material into a valuable and durable product, giving it new life.

100% renewable energy

The CFP certification carried out on a selection of our saddles has revealed that over 10% of emissions come from energy consumption. For this reason, since 2024, we have been using exclusively renewable energy sources. About one third is self-produced thanks to the installation of solar panels, while the rest is purchased to ensure 100% clean energy.

Saddles for life: quality and maintenance

We create our saddles to be ‘saddles for life,’ and to achieve this ambitious goal, we use high-quality materials and pay attention to every detail during the production process. However, the success of this mission also depends on the owner’s commitment to proper care. Regular maintenance and attention to the cleaning and hydration of the leather are essential to preserve its quality over time. To support the longevity of our saddles, we offer a repair service and dedicated assistance through our specialized centers in various areas. We do everything possible to extend the life cycle of our saddles to the maximum, which is why we do not set limits on accepting saddles for repair*.

* In the case of saddle models that are no longer in the catalog or were produced many years ago, we may be unable to perform the repair if the necessary technical information is no longer available in our archives. In such situations, we may have to use replacement parts that are similar but not identical to the originals. Our team of expert technicians will carefully select the materials and parts that most closely match the original design from those currently available in production. However, it is important to emphasize that we cannot guarantee the repair will be invisible. For this reason, we are committed to contacting you to discuss the feasibility of the repair, provide a detailed estimate, and agree on the timeline. Please note that the timeline may vary from our standard times, but we will work with you to ensure your complete consent before proceeding.

Careful selection of suppliers

Over 90% of our supplies involve sourcing leather. To ensure high-quality standards, we pay particular attention to the traceability of this raw material throughout the entire supply chain. We select and prefer Italian suppliers who adopt a sustainable approach, prioritizing the use of natural leathers and avoiding finished products.

We focus not only on environmental sustainability but also on social sustainability from the supplier selection phase. We also consider economic sustainability, choosing suppliers who guarantee operational continuity and offer solid assurances for our customers.
