Gian Giorgio Trissino the first Italian rider to win the Olympic Games

Prestige Italia, the Trissino-based company that represents excellence in craftsmanship and quality in the equestrian sector, has its roots in the same area that gave birth to Gian Giorgio Trissino dal Vello d’Oro (Gian Giorgio Trissino of the Golden Fleece), a historical figure and prominent rider at the 1900 Paris Olympic Games.

This is not just a geographical coincidence, but a tribute to the excellence that the Trissino area has been able to produce, and which continues to influence the present day.

Born into a noble family from Vicenza, Gian Giorgio Trissino completed his military studies at the Royal Academy of Turin and distinguished himself as a brilliant cavalry officer. His participation in the 1900 Paris Olympic Games, during the Universal Exhibition, made him famous as the first Italian to win an Olympic medal. With his horse Oreste, Trissino won silver in the long jump, gold ex aequo in the high jump and silver with another horse, Melopo, proudly representing Italy.

Gian Giorgio was a pupil of Federico Caprilli, who was due to compete in the Olympics with Oreste but was detained in his home country and only managed to give Gian Giorgio some advice before the competition.

Prestige Italia embodies the values of dedication and commitment that made Gian Giorgio Trissino famous. Although not directly inspired by the Count, the company represents the continuation of a tradition of excellence.

Building on its past of excellence, the company has never stopped looking to the future and concentrating its efforts on the production of high-performance saddles. This year in particular, the focus is on the Games in Paris, represented by a large team of ambassadors for the Prestige and Renaissance brands. Hoping that the coincidence of Gian Giorgio Trissino, the Trissino area and Paris will be a happy one, Prestige Italia is ready to celebrate and bring to the forefront Italian excellence represented by its champions competing in the French capital.
